Sit-In Kayaks
With a sit-in kayak you sit on the bottom of the hull and there is an opening on the top deck. This configuration allows the kayak to be more narrow which means greater speed.
The drawback with a sit-in kayak is skill level; one needs to be able to flip the kayak upright without flooding the hull.
The other design is a sit-on kayak, where you sit on the deck. This places weight above the water line and that requires that the hull is made wider.
